Q.Freshwater Species Behavior

What do catfish eat and when do they feed?

A.

Catfish eat small fish (shad, bluegill), crayfish, insects, worms, and dead/decaying matter. Channel cats and blue cats feed actively day and night with peaks at dusk and dawn; flatheads strongly prefer night feeding on live bait. Anchored fishing with cut bait, chicken liver, or live fish near deep structure or river holes produces reliably.

Spawn calendar pages cover catfish timing.
