Q.Freshwater Species Behavior
How do I catch walleye at night?
A.
Walleye feed actively at night, especially in summer when they avoid bright sun. Fish shallow rocky points, gravel flats, and weed edges in 6-15 feet of water from dusk through midnight. Crawler harnesses, jigs tipped with minnows, and shallow-running stickbaits are productive.
Walleye eyes have a tapetum lucidum that gives them excellent low-light vision — they out-see baitfish at night. Spawn calendar pages cover seasonal pattern shifts.
