Q.Tides & Fishing

Where do speckled trout stack on outgoing tide?

A.

Speckled trout stack along grass edges, in deeper holes adjacent to drains, and at points where current breaks create ambush eddies. The first two hours of outgoing typically produce the most consistent topwater and soft-plastic bites, especially around grass flats with adjacent depth.

Trout often suspend in 4-8 feet of water adjacent to grass-flat edges that drain on outgoing. Popping corks with shrimp or paddle-tail jigs worked along the grass edge produce reliably. See tide guide pages for outgoing timing.
