Q.Tides & Fishing
How does wind affect tides and fishing?
A.
Sustained wind from the same direction as the tide can amplify the tide range — onshore wind during incoming pushes water higher; offshore wind during outgoing pushes water lower. Wind against the tide flattens the range. For fishing, wind also affects boat positioning, casting accuracy, and water clarity — strong wind across a flat stirs sediment.
Plan stand-up paddling, kayaking, or shallow-flat fishing around wind direction relative to tide. Tide guide pages cover regional tide-and-wind interactions.
