Q.Tides & Fishing

Where do redfish go on outgoing tide?

A.

Redfish leave flooded marsh grass as the tide falls and stack at creek mouths, oyster bars, and main-channel drains where bait is being flushed out. They feed aggressively for the first two hours of outgoing, then often slide into deeper holes as water gets thin. Drains and creek mouths are the highest-percentage outgoing-tide setups.

Look for current breaks just outside marsh creek mouths — the eddy on the downstream side concentrates bait. Cast topwaters or soft plastics into the current seam, work them with the flow. State tide guide pages cover outgoing timing for your region.
