Q.Inshore Migration Timing

Why do fish migrate and what triggers it?

A.

Fish migrate to track preferred water temperatures, follow bait pods, reach spawning grounds, and escape uninhabitable conditions. The primary triggers are seasonal SST changes, photoperiod, and food availability. Most coastal migrations are temperature-driven — fish move ahead of water that's becoming too cold or too warm for their physiological tolerance.

SST threshold pages cover species-specific temperature ranges. Migration calendar pages cover the spring and fall timing for major species in your region.
