Q.Inshore Migration Timing

When do striped bass move south in fall?

A.

Striped bass start moving south in October as Northeast and Mid-Atlantic water temperatures drop below 60°F. The fall run typically peaks in late October and early November in New York/New Jersey waters, with fish reaching the Carolinas in November-December. Trophy fish often feed aggressively on bunker during the migration.

The fall run is widely considered the year's best opportunity for trophy stripers because the largest fish migrate together with bait pods. Migration calendar pages cover regional timing.
