Q.Inshore Migration Timing

When do redfish school in the fall?

A.

Redfish school heavily during fall (October-November in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast), forming massive groups in shallow flats, beaches, and pass mouths as they prepare for offshore winter migration. The schooling phase produces some of the most exciting sight-fishing of the year — redfish stack visible on shallow water, often hundreds in a single school.

Schools concentrate near inlet mouths in October as fish stage for offshore movement. Sight fishing on calm days produces aggressive topwater bites. Migration calendar pages cover regional schooling timing.
