Q.Saltwater Species Behavior
Why is cobia caught near rays and sharks?
A.
Cobia commonly cruise alongside or just behind cow-nose rays, sharks, and large turtles. The host fish disturbs the bottom or stirs up small prey, and cobia feed on what gets flushed out. Sight-casting jigs or live eels at rays is one of the most effective cobia techniques during their seasonal migration.
Migration calendar pages cover cobia timing in your region.
