Q.Saltwater Species Behavior

Why do flounder lie on the bottom and how do I catch them?

A.

Flounder are flat-body ambush predators that lie partially buried in sand or mud, perfectly camouflaged, waiting for bait to swim past. They strike upward at passing fish or shrimp. To catch them, drag jigs or live bait slowly along the bottom near edges, drains, and structure where they ambush.

Slow presentations work best. Migration calendar pages cover the fall flounder run timing.
