Q.Reading Water & Finding Fish
What is structure and why do fish relate to it?
A.
Structure is any feature that creates a discontinuity in otherwise uniform water — rocks, weed beds, fallen trees, oyster bars, dock pilings, ledges, drop-offs. Fish relate to structure because it provides cover from predators, shelter from current, ambush points for prey, and concentrated bait. Find structure, find fish.
Spawn calendar and tide guide pages cover species-specific structure use.
