Tide stage water type guide

Surf Zone & Beach Troughs tide fishing guide.

The wave-zone water immediately adjacent to ocean beaches — typically the first sandbar trough where wave action reactivates sand fleas and coquina clams.

How tide moves through surf zone & beach troughs

Tide stage shifts the wave-action zone up and down the beach. Falling tide exposes more wave-active sand bed — sand fleas come active in the wash. Rising tide moves the wash zone higher, reactivating the inshore food chain. Pompano, blues, and surf-feeding predators key on the trough behind the first sandbar at any moving tide.
