Hatch calendar

Penns Creek hatch calendar.

LimestoneClass A wild trout / catch and release sectionsBrown troutWild

Penns Creek is the most famous limestone freestone in the East — best known for the brief but legendary Green Drake hatch in late May and early June, when the river's biggest browns abandon their usual caution. The Sulphur hatch from late May through June is just as productive and longer-lasting.

Verify with local fly shop

Hatch timing varies week to week with water temperature and weather. Cross-reference this calendar with Fly Fisher's Paradise (State College, PA) or another local fly shop before planning a trip.
